Money Laundering through Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

Abstract

Money laundering through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) constitutes one of the most significant and dangerous crimes facing legal systems at the present time، particularly because these tokens possess characteristics that make them a suitable instrument for committing such crimes، such as their tradability across digital platforms. It is worth noting that the effectiveness of these tokens in facilitating money laundering varies depending on their type. The risk of their use is determined by the degree of their susceptibility to exploitation; some tokens may exhibit a high potential for exploitation، while others may present a lower potential for such misuse. Nevertheless، this variation does not alter their composite legal nature. All of the above enables us to clarify the specific nature of the crime of money laundering through non-fungible tokens by examining its stages، identifying the object of the crime، and determining its legal elements
