Criticism of the Western concept of post-colonial international relations

Abstract

The theory of post colonialism occupies an important place in the field of theorizing international relations, criticizing the centralized domination and the inherent exclusivism of Western civilization to others, while it does not deny the West's civilizational contributions, but it emphasizes its surprise that the West did not exchange the same recognition for the other for partnership in world leadership, and therefore the victorious powers in the Second World War (mostly the former colonial countries themselves, Britain, the United States, France), did not allow other countries that were freed from the yoke of colonialism from real participation in the international decision-making process, and the theory also criticizes the dominance of the Western powers over all the outputs of the international system، At the same time, it calls for a pluralistic world that respects all states and allows them the space they deserve in active participation in international life, and the theory itself offers a universal alternative to Western positivist theories in international relations, which have been reduced to the Western worldview alone. This study attempts to present the views and critical contributions of the Western concept of international relations at the (post-colonial) stage, and analyze what it considers a kind of "colonial continuity" in the nature and reality of international relations, by establishing a (scientific and cultural) reality replete with theories justifying the continuation of Western superiority, as well as employing the role of (international) structures and institutions to sustain this control and promote this inequality.
